The NJ SASA Conference took place on October 2nd, 2024. Throughout the event, teams from across New Jersey learned the fundamentals of advocacy and gathered more information about SASA. Participants also enjoyed a tour of the State Capitol in Trenton.

Engaging in interactive lectures and activities with an SASA Coordinator, the teams learned about the legislative processes of the New Jersey government and how to advocate at the local level. After lunch, they participated in several rounds of simulated advocacy meetings, allowing them to put their preparation into practice.

Members had the opportunity to meet with legislators to advocate for the advancement of STEM programs. Those who could not attend legislative meetings due to their representatives being on recess spent the afternoon exploring the State Capitol on an official tour, visiting the New Jersey Senate and Assembly chambers.

Overall, the conference provided teams with valuable insights into state government and advocacy, equipping them with skills they can carry forward.

On May 17th, 2024, our team at SARA hosted the West Virginia Aerial Drone Competition. The event's purpose was to expand the robotics workspace and encourage collaboration and spread awareness for SARA. Over 50 teams attended with their own posters and booths, creating a vibrant, social atmosphere. The large amount of people present at the event created a friendly environment where each team used their collaboration skills and robotics talent to progress further into the competition. Our team at SARA used booths to promote our organization and spread awareness about robotics advancements. The event was a success, as the competition flowed smoothly, everyone had a fun time, and information was spread about STEM.
